Today was another good day for Truitt. His feeding levels were increased, and he was able to come off of the CPAP completely and is just using the cannula with high flow therapy. His head can now move around more freely, and we can hear him cry!
His direct bilirubin count is still high, which is a slight cause for concern. This can be indicative of liver problems, but we are not seeing any other signs of liver trouble at the moment.
The increased feeding levels will give us an opportunity in the next few days to evaluate whether the hydrops was caused by chylothorax. So far the fluid has not reaccumulated by his lungs.
Leisel was able to hold him for several hours again today. Each time, he seems to do better, and he has also seemed to improve greatly over the last few days after the skin to skin time.
We are still working on determining the best time for Truitt to transfer to another hospital. His current doctors have indicated he will need more specialized care at some point in the near future, but there is a question of timing right now.
Prayer requests:
- That no fluid will return to the space by Truitt’s lungs
- That his liver will be fine and function perfectly
- For wisdom and God’s clear direction on the right time to transfer to another hospital.
