Leisel & Baby Truitt Update
“A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.”
Baby Truitt was born Wednesday morning, July 20, 2016, at 10:23am. At birth he weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces, and was 18 inches long. While the plan that morning was for a C-section, Leisel went into labor so quickly that Truitt ended up being born naturally. Within seconds of his birth he was rushed across the hall to a team of NICU nurses waiting to resuscitate and stabilize him. Soon after, he was moved down to the NICU for further monitoring and care.
Truitt has extra fluid around one of his lungs (non-immune hydrops), making breathing more difficult and potentially restricting lung development. There are many potential causes for this, but so far they have not been able to diagnose the problem. He is currently breathing through a ventilator, but his oxygen levels are good.
Truitt also has severe adema (swelling) in his hands and feet, and this swelling has caused serious damage to the tissue there. There is a strong possibility that Truitt will be transferred to another hospital in order to potentially receive more specialized care and surgeries.
Leisel is doing well overall, and will likely be discharged from the hospital within a couple days.
PLEASE PRAY that (1) the doctors can identify the cause of the hydrops and treat it, (2) for Truitt’s continued stabilization and overall improvement of health, (3) for Leisel’s health as she recovers from the pregnancy, and (4) for our kids as they continue to deal with Leisel’s absence during the hospital stay.
Sincerely,
David & Leisel & Family
