During the 4:00am pumping session this morning, a song we used to sing in church when I was little was looping through my head:
“How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him,
Who brings good news. Good news!
Announcing peace, proclaiming news of happiness.
Our God reigns! Our God reigns! ”
(Based on Isaiah 52:7)
When we found out a couple of months ago that Prentice baby #5 was going to be a boy, I immediately had something specific I felt his name should mean. His name means Justice and Truth. True justice cannot be accomplished unless it is based on the truth. And the truth– God’s Word– is good news! One day God will deliver justice for each and every one of our sins someday. But our holy, loving God sent His Son to take the just punishment for our sin so that through faith in Him, the just punishment for our sin was placed upon Him, allowing us to be at peace with God. This is truth, and this is good news!
Little Truitt’s swollen feet are the most visible signs of his condition. They are very swollen, bruised, and wounded. But each day, little by little, the swelling is going down and they are even starting to turn pink in places! His feet are going to be beautiful someday. Not because they are not swollen. Not because they are pink instead of black and purple. Not because the ulcerous sores have healed. But because he will stand for truth. He will proclaim the good news.
Our God reigns!
“How beautiful upon the mountains Are the feet of him who brings good news, Who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7
